About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to play a lead role in shaping and guiding the Groups approach and management of procurement activity. This new role will focus on ensuring legal compliance and facilitating great, customer focussed service delivery. The role is based in a multi-disciplinary Assets team but has a clear remit to influence and shape effective practice across the Group.
What will you be doing?
The Group has a strong track record of procuring and developing effective partnerships to deliver a wide range of services across Wales, focussed upon the construction and maintenance of high-quality homes, but also encompassing a wider range of support services.
Working to the Director of Assets & Maintenance you will take a lead role in setting and continually developing effective, compliant and customer focused procurement strategies for the Group and acting as an expert advisor in relation to procurement and related contractual and legal matters. With the support of your staff, you will also support managers across the Group undertaking procurement related work, acting as a project lead where necessary. In order to give assurance of legal compliance to the senior team you ensure that timely, accurate management information is produced and available on a regular cycle. As a natural partnership worker, you will support colleagues to maintain effective relationships with suppliers and contractors, leading on negotiation and liaison as needed.
As part of the Senior Management Group, you will work in close liaison with colleagues driving and guiding the ongoing growth and development of the Groups wider culture and services.
Who are we looking for?
To succeed in this role, you will have a genuine passion and desire to deliver the best possible services. You will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills that bring the best out in people and facilitate joint working. In addition, your natural skills with managing process and procedure will have resulted in a solid track record in the achievement of effective, systematic procurement environments in similar business environments.
Who are Wales & West Housing (WWH)?
We are one of the leading housing providers in Wales; providing affordable homes and services to more than 20,000 residents in over 12,000 properties across Wales. We formed a group company in 2011, to include Cambria Maintenance Ltd. We employ almost 450 staff at WWH and over 170 staff in Cambria, making us a major Welsh employer. As an organisation we adopt a systems thinking approach to the way we manage and deliver our services across the Group; it underpins the way in which we operate.
We are ranked as 3* World Class in the 2022 Best Companies list and are also very proud to be the first organisation in Wales to be awarded Platinum status in the Investors in People (IiP) Standard.
We are embracing a new hybrid way of working that enables us to deliver a great service and supports a strong and connected organisational culture. Staff will spend a minimum of two days a week (or an appropriate pro rata for part timers), in the office. The remainder of the week will be determined by the needs of the role and/or the nature of the work; so you may be on site, at one of our regional bases, or working from home if suitable.
