Job Role/Purpose
The Junior Buyer will work within a supply chain team of Buyers and alongside the Production Planning team. The Junior Buyer will predominately be responsible for operational purchasing activities, but tasks will grow in complexity as familiarity with the business increases.
Applicants could have previous procurement or supply chain experience, looking to transition into the sector or be a recent university graduate. CIPS sponsorship can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update supplier information in SAP Business One
- Ensuring supplier certificates are up to date and relevant on SAP
- Ensuring points of contact are kept up to date on SAP
- Ensure payment terms reflect actuals
- Manage dates on Purchase Orders to allow the production teams to plan for receipt and support goods in inspection
- Raise, place and expedite purchase orders in-line with manufacturing requirements
- Supplier liaison - monitor performance through KPIs and foster collaborative relationships
- Contribute to procurement department cost down targets
- Support on procurement projects
- Resolution of invoice queries and completion of any associated administrative tasks
- Working with colleagues in regards to procurement process improvement
- Provide holiday/sickness/furlough cover for Supply Chain when necessary
Person Specification
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain, looking to transition into a Buyer role or recent graduate
- Strong IT skills - familiarity with MS packages, a business or MRP/ERP system
- SAP Business One knowledge would be a benefit
- Collaborative team player with strong relationship building skills
- Strong time management skills
- Have a professional telephone manner and not be afraid to pick up the phone and have a conversation with stake-holders
- Have a confident, can-do attitude
- The ambition to study for formal qualifications
