his is an excellent opportunity for an assistant technical officer to develop their skills and knowledge within a secondary care setting in a specialist hospital. Our Pharmacy Department plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Trust’s reputation.
Led by an experienced and dedicated clinical services team, you will be a key member of the pharmacy team, working as part of the Pharmacy Purchasing team in liaison with Pharmacy Stores. The role involves the purchasing of medicines along with associated clerical and administration requirements as well as supporting the stores service. You will also be required to undergo our structured training which will enable you to successfully complete the departments competency accreditation programmes.
You must have excellent communicational and numeracy skills, the ability to work on your own as well as within a team and be highly motivated to deliver excellent patient care.

- To support the Lead Technician Pharmacy Purchasing in the management and co-ordination of tasks required for the safe and efficient purchasing and supply of medicines at the trust.
- The role includes technical and clerical duties, and involves dealing with a variety of other hospital staff in meeting the day to day duties.

- To carry out the day to day running and co-ordination of ordering and purchasing of medicines for the hospital, ensuring correct quantities are ordered and correct contracts are used.
- To carry out the day to day running and co-ordination of good stock control of medicines, and to assist in the investigation of any discrepancies.
- To carry out effective, efficient and timely top up services of medicines to clinical to clinical areas
- To carry out the processing of invoices to ensure payment for medicines and also assist in the timely investigation and resolution of any invoice discrepancies.
- Assist the stores and distribution team in maintaining the purchasing and delivery of medical gases and to undergo training in the provision of medical gases.
- Assist the stores team in ensuring good stock rotation and expiry checks and stock level checks
- Deal with routine purchasing requests from within the pharmacy department and from clinical areas.
- Assist with inputting of data to assist the Pharmacy Systems manager, and completion of reports in relation to purchasing e.g. monthly KPIs
