BioteCH4 own and operate a group of anaerobic digestion facilities across the UK. We also provide biological support, emergency response and feedstock supply to other operators within the industry. Our industry expertise means we not only have the knowledge and experience to deal with all the food waste the UK produces. We also have the capacity to handle whatever quantity you need us to, from the majority of sectors across each of our plants. In 2022 BioteCH4 handled 557,000 tonnes of waste, applied 347,229 tonnes of digestate to land, and generated 280,000 MWh of energy.
Local Generation is a state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion Facility based on the outskirts of March, Cambridgeshire, with an annual processing capacity of 120,000 metric tonnes. Commissioned in 2011 the business produces renewable energy from a combination of food wastes and sits within a 7-acre site and is capable of producing 12.2MW energy generation.

Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Process Operator receives and processes incoming waste material ensuring that it is compliant with the permitted waste types in order to feed the plant accordingly, maximising energy output and cost effectiveness by smooth operation of the plant. The individual working needs to ensure
·The consistent processing of the waste using the control systems to optimise the recipe for the type of waste received
· Optimise the screen operation to ensure minimal ‘contaminants’ are sent to the Anaerobic Digestion process
Attend on occasions the off-site operation of Digestate storage
Key Areas of Responsibility:
· Receiving in and processing all types of waste vehicles that includes inspection
· Review loads that arrive with a view of acceptance before paperwork is signed and when vehicles are to leave site. (If unsure, ask)
· Contain and clear any spillages on site in an efficient and safe manner when required
· Operate the weighbridge.
· Ensure vehicles leave the Reception Hall to the required hygiene standard.
· Daily & weekly clean down and simple maintenance processes are conducted and logged (if required) on the specified paperwork
· 5s (workplace organisation & housekeeping) in the Reception Hall and around the site
· Ensuring provisions are in place to allow adherence of VET & EA requirements (i.e. footbaths always in operation, no food waste is spilt outside the reception hall, not accepting food waste where the EWC code does not feature on our permitted list, doors not left open for prolonged periods etc.)
· Ensuring the Daily Operational Log is completed at all times
· Completing daily Mechanical Handling Equipment checks on all vehicles
· Ensuring the packaging waste within the Reception Hall goes into the correct streams for the daily skip movements (i.e. landfill, recycling etc.)
· Support and monitor the digestate transfer operation as required.
· Operate the HMI to optimise recipe with waste type
· Adhere to the Site Health & Safety policy in all work activities
· Undertake any course of instruction necessary to obtain or maintain the required skill level for this role
· Ensuring that time keeping, and punctuality is maintained at an acceptable level.
To undertake such other activities as may reasonably be required from time to time and which are within the competence of the job holder.
4 on 4 off shift pattern, days & nights rotating, 12 hour shifts 6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am
