POSITION SCOPE
To operate the Refining plant with emphasis on safe operation, a quality product, optimisation and continuous improvement.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To understand and operate safety systems such as Task Based Risk Assessment, Permit to Work, Hot Work Permit and Confined Space Permit.
- Developing detailed Work Instructions or TBRA’s to be used to improve safety in the area, for training of other personnel and standardisation of operating procedures between crews.
- Reviewing and ‘signing off’’ relevant Work Instructions and TBRA’s for the role every two years.
- Ensuring compliance is maintained towards all aspects of S.H.H.E.Q., where feasibly practicable. Liaising with others such as the Console Operator where corrective action or further assistance is required.
- To operate processing plant to the required safety, environmental, quality, hygiene and output standards liaising with the Console Operator, Senior Process Technician, Shift Manager and Area Manager.
- To utilise the plant computer systems to ensure smooth and efficient performance and to interrogate the systems for deviation of process parameters taking appropriate corrective action as required.
- To work together with colleagues in the area as a small and responsive team, sharing workload and reporting to ensure efficient operation.
- To demonstrate an ability to make quick and correct decisions based on all available data in order to optimise the plant.
- To work with Process Engineers, Maintenance Technicians and the Senior Process Technician in order to develop the plant by accurately fault finding and proposing meaningful Continuous Improvement projects.
- To maintain a clear and concise log of events during the shift and to submit an accurate report at the end each shift.
Ensuring that important safety or plant information, deviations or changes are handed over accurately between crews.
ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERINCE & CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
- Relevant experience in a major refining process or related food industry leading to a thorough understanding of Refining Operations.
- Self motivated with a desire for personal and plant development.
- Good time management and ability to prioritise.
- Good computer skills and understanding of control systems.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate data leading to decision making.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some understanding of current safety legislation applicable to the performance of their duties.
- Knowledge of safety, environment, hygiene and quality procedures applicable to area of work.
- Good team worker and communicator with a flexible approach to work.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Thorough knowledge of all PA1 roles & City and Guilds in Process Plant Operation would be an advantage.
