Job Summary: The Process Engineer is responsible for handling a client's needs with respect to the process operations. This would include the areas of innovation, performance improvement, quality/reliability improvement, and cost reduction.
Job Duties:
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFD’s)
- Generate Heat & Material Balances for process either by hand or using simulation software such as ChemCAD
- Assist in the development of piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID’s) for the process including line sizing and developing control schemes
- Determine the process data needed for the sizing of instruments to be used in the process
- Generate equipment specifications for vessels, heat exchanges, pumps, distillation
- columns, etc., and work with equipment vendors to obtain the required equipment needed for a project
- Assist with the development of equipment layout drawings
- Generate bid tabulation of equipment from vendor quotations
- Conduct safety studies for a process for the sizing of relief device
- Provide input as needed to other disciplines during project execution
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for processes.
- Assist clients with the commissioning and startup of process equipment.
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate responses
- Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Dust Hazard Analyses (DHA)
- Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Program requirements and facilitation of PSM Audits
- Perform process safety management using What-If Analysis, Hazardous Operation Studies (HAZOP), Level of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
- Knowledge of OSHA PSM Mechanical Integrity (MI) Programs and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
- Performance of Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
- Ability to walk down production sites to investigate/review potential process safety hazards
- Have a demonstrated ability to work with client operations, maintenance, engineering, and management resources for execution of process safety analysis
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience; 4+ years in process design on specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, and/or bio-fuel projects.
- On-site experience
- Familiar with scope, schedule, and budget management.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Location: Cincinnati, OH; Remote position
- Work is typically performed in an indoor office setting/client site.
Travel: Up to 15%
