YOU MUST RESIDE OR WILLING TO RELOCATE TO THE NORTH POLE/ FAIRBANKS, ALASKA AREA.
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing daily support to the North Pole and Valdez Refinery Operations, including process monitoring and optimization, Process Safety Management, and environmental compliance activities. The primary focus of this position is to support the operations (24/7) organizations with prompt and proactive troubleshooting, large-scale maintenance/retrofit/upgrade, and optimization support through all facets of operation. A primary goal for the Senior Process Engineer is to support unit operation to create the optimum value from the complex assets in a safe and compliant manner
- Establish performance monitoring programs for pump, heater, vessel, exchanger, instrumentation, etc., for predictive failures and project planning. These programs will be maintained and monitored by Operations.
- Identify inspection guidelines/requirements for process unit and establish Refinery critical process conditions and catalyst reactivity having to do with daily efficiencies and planning in order to help maximize operations profitability.
- Provide technical process support and training to Operations personnel as required.
- Assist in troubleshooting refinery upsets, identifying roots causes, and contribute to the cause and effect analysis to produce workable/cost-effective fixes.
- Provides technical input into the development and implementation of operator training, operating manuals, management of change (MOC) development, process hazard analysis (PHAs), layers of protection analysis (LOPA), and piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P&ID) verification.
- Participate in and, at times, lead capital project conceptualization, estimate and justifications/approval process, and assist with follow-up analyses to determine investment performance vs. business case.
- Promote company safety culture by identifying and reporting any unsafe or questionable conditions.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of existing SIS/BMS and management of NOL/SOL/SDL limits and recommend changes/improvements.
- Identify and assist with the implementation of "Best Practices" between PSI's refineries and other companies' refinery complexes.
- Assist PSI Compliance Group's Mechanical Integrity efforts to improve equipment files and P&ID accuracy.
- Perform other such duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Education:
- B. S. Degree in Engineering in Process, Chemical, Petroleum, or other petroleum refining-related technical degree from an accredited university.
Experience:
- Five years of work experience in the same or related position preferred.
