Summary of Job
This position will serve as a change agent and will collaborate with all areas of the organization. Will identify opportunities to drive and incorporate Lean tools into the daily functions of Continuous Improvement. Will collaborate with Plant leadership team to implement KPI to drive labor cost and improve on production efficiencies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to drive and incorporation Lean tool usage such as 5S, time study, capacity modeling, standard work, material flow and value stream mapping, process mapping and Kaizen event into the daily functions of continuous improvement.
- Drive Lean and problem-solving initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to support productivity, quality, process efficiency, space utilization, standardization, and lead improvement efforts.
- Provide input into departmental budgeting processes as required.
- May supervise and provide work direction to other engineers and technicians.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements like SQF, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
- Manage facility-wide Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Program to optimize business to best serve our customers; including but not limited to:
- Building/managing Kaizen Event Schedule(s)
- Event /project preparation and facilitation
- Operator Training & Engagement
- Spreading a lean culture across all levels of the organization on a daily basis
- Identify, rationalize, plan, and document cost reduction projects (inventory, direct/indirect labor, cost per tool, etc.)
- Collect, analyze, summarize, and present process data (OEE) to the management team
- Facility layout optimization utilizing lean tools
- Create, verify, and modify Routings in ERP system has part of continuous improvement projects
- Plan, justify, and implement capital budget projects which contribute to the plant goals and objectives
- Implement 5S + Safety throughout the plants with an emphasis on Visual Factory and Safety Management
- A passion for improvement and thinking outside the box

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize requests from multiple sources
- A passion to learn new things, and teach others
- Proven experience leading continuous improvement projects (Lean, TPM)
- Exceptional ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business or Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
- Masters degree preferred
- A minimum of 2 years related work experience required. Experience and knowledge in general food manufacturing (preferred but not required).
- An understanding of Allergens, pathogens, and other food contaminants (preferred but not required).
- SQF knowledge (preferred but not required)
- Bilingual English/Spanish
