As a process engineer you will include supporting the development and operation of new and existing research engineering and site utility equipment, spanning multiple Sectors and Business Units across Teesside and 3rd party sites. Activities include process engineering design, process safety support, budget preparation, design, modification, commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation of bespoke Research Engineering equipment

Your responsibilities:
  • Creating and preparing innovative process engineering designs and specifications for bespoke Research Engineering equipment to facilitate delivery of business-critical research and manufacturing programmes.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment designs meet site and statutory specification. Identifying design solutions to complex problems and to continuously improve the effectiveness and reliability of bespoke Research Engineering equipment.
  • Carrying out design calculations for safety critical equipment, ensuring full compliance with all relevant codes, EHS standards and life Saving policies.
  • Collaborating with and providing technical expertise to projects teams, technicians and customers during installation, commissioning, modification and troubleshooting of research engineering and site utility equipment.
  • Specifying and procuring equipment to support projects, preventative maintenance programmes and repairs.
  • Planning and prioritising own sections of engineering projects.
Requirements for the role:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience in a Process Engineering role
  • Demonstrable experience of Process Safety, including active participation in process hazard assessments such as HAZOP, LoPA, Area Classification
  • Demonstrable experience of Process Engineering at the pilot scale
  • Strong communicator and a team player, comfortable interacting with & leading many different stakeholders
  • The ability to build strong working relations and communicate with stakeholders at all levels
