DePuy Synthes has great opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our team in Leeds. We are seeking an Engineer that has a keen interest in implementing and maintaining business systems and improving processes within the operations and engineering department.

This role provides engineering support for manufacturing operations based across all the value streams. The role requires technical ownership for manufacturing processes, products, and equipment, while maintaining a focus on key business drivers, which include EH&S, Quality, Supply and Cost.

As a Process Engineer, your typical day may include but is not limited to:
- Supports manufacturing investigations, solve technical issues and provides general technical service support for manufacturing facilities and marketed products.
- Reviews and updates documentation of the production processes, recommending modifications as appropriate.
- Actively participates in Continuous Improvement processes within the Operations department and works multi-functional with operations, marketing, quality assurance and research and development to find opportunities for cost and process improvements.
- Participate in and lead various initiatives and multi-functional investigations as and when required
- Provides technical solution for cost improvement, business continuity and/or process excellence.
- Performs activities including reformulation, manufacturing process improvements and validation qualification as required.
- Takes an active role in project team/technical project activities that focus on cost improvement, business continuity and/or process excellence.
- Identifies, tests and implementation of new technologies, to ensure materials and process techniques are continuously updated, fostering production efficiency and costs improvements.
- Prepares documentation for submissions and preapproval inspections as required.
- Support attainment of key business metrics through the provision of maintenance support for value stream processes.
- Work closely with the inhouse maintenance & calibration teams to provide engineering support where required.
- Elimination of safety and quality risks in the process through the delivery of robust engineering solutions.
- Actively involved in cost saving initiatives through the delivery of scrap, reprocessing and consumable projects.
- Design & develop tools, fixtures, gauges and special equipment for manufacturing operations
- Develop stable and capable manufacturing processes through a structured process development approach.
- Creation of manufacturing specifications.
- Proficient in validation requirements for new consumables/materials and process changes.
- Ensure timely execution and closure of quality actions such as Audit Actions, NR’s, CAPA’s.
- Root Cause Analysis and implementation of robust solutions to supply and quality issues as they arise through tools such as 8D and Six Sigma.
- Determine equipment layouts for manufacturing cells using Lean Manufacturing tool as identified.
Qualifications
Preferred:

- Previous Supply Chain/manufacturing experience would be preferred.
- A minimum of degree level in a recognised qualification
- A minimum of 2 years of operational experience in a complex multi-national company/environment is desirable.
- Great teammate with the ability to work independently
- Strong organizational abilities and a hands-on mentality
- Focus on patients and customers at all times
- Experience of Audit Actions, NR’s & CAPA’s within a quality management system would be advantageous
- Experience of CAD/CAM/
- Some experience in FEA, DFMA, FMEA, 6 sigma and Lean
- Experience of project management and problem solving
- Knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements and related standards, with shown understanding of the practical application of these requirements
