Process Engineer

GSK are recruiting for a Process / Chemical Engineer on site in Montrose on a full-time and permanent basis.

It is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to work in production environment and understanding the challenges that can occur with it.

You will join a high performing, diverse team of process engineers responsible for providing process engineering expertise to the site’s manufacturing processes and operations with the Montrose Manufacturing Science and Technology Department.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide process engineering expertise to the site’s manufacturing processes and to capital projects. The role holder will contribute to the resolution of technical issues having process engineering dimensions. He/she will make decisions and recommendations relating to their technical responsibilities.

In addition, the role holder will be responsible for control software development and commissioning of capital projects. Close collaboration and partnership with the operations units, the process chemistry, engineering and EHS teams will drive the site’s pursuit of excellence

In this role you will...

  • Work with operations to investigate and resolve issues with process engineering dimensions
  • Improve process plant software by identifying changes or providing software for new plant: preparing detailed design specifications and offline & online testing
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical and instrument technicians, automation engineers, operations, plant engineers, EHS, quality, other process engineers) to investigate and resolve any issues and communicate with operations.
  • Input into projects at the design stage: work on detailed design, HAZOP action closure, software early specification, through to commissioning of new plant and processes
  • Ensure good practice and compliance with legislation, which includes reporting and investigation of safety issues and input into planned and unplanned changes

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • MEng qualified chemical/process engineer
  • Happy to work in both office and on-plant environments
  • Self-starter, able to be accountable for operation support / project delivery and working independently on agreed priorities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with and influence individuals at all levels in the business

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus

  • Experience in pharmaceutical / food / chemical industry and/or in a healthcare environment
  • Experience of working to Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Process plant software experience (e.g. Emerson DeltaV)
  • Experience of leading safety studies such as HAZOP, SIL and general risk assessments
  • Process plant commissioning experience
  • Chartered (CEng) chemical engineer
