Job Description
-An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Process Engineer to join the team based at our Ascot site, where we produce synthetic diamond materials through chemical vapour deposition (CVD).
Job Overview
The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for leading projects to maximise operational output across three key areas: continuous improvement, transformational change and external partner collaborations.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious individual, ready to embrace a steep technical learning curve to work with an innovative engineering material, at the cutting-edge science of diamond manufacture.
The driven individual will execute on innovative ideas to maximize gross margin and throughput, reducing costs and waste in the process.
They will lead a small team and the role will therefore require a significant degree of autonomous, self-directed work from a proactive individual.
Tasks must be delivered keeping safety first in line with our Zero Harm goal.
Duties & Tasks
- Lead product transfers across sites and execute project activities involving external partners – point of contact for partner, feasibility trials, contracts/NDAs, budget, and costings, scale up and integration into operations, while maintaining best practices and upholding yields live on shop floor.
- Cross functional collaboration to implement and embed improvements, new product, and technology introductions.
- Assume responsibility for managing own workload whilst overseeing objectives and deadlines for direct reports, supporting them in upskilling and developing.
- Act as key technical support for plant development and expansion programmes.
- Lead, compile and report on project progress and scope creep with mitigations to the wider business through PMO programme updates.
- Champion World Class Manufacturing / Business Excellence principles.
- Drive cost reduction through yield improvements, increased throughput, reduction in non-value add tasks, long term solutions to today’s downtimes.
- Facilitate practical problem solving, from identifying actions through to point of closure, to achieve long term solutions.
Qualifications
-Criteria Skills
- Engineering degree or related technical discipline within manufacturing environment.
- Capable of working in a complex environment; with the ability to work on multiple programmes simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
- Growth mindset and creative thinker.
- Solid leadership and communication skills - comfortable with communicating with multiple levels within the organisation.
- Proven track record in building effective working relationships.
- Proficient in the use of IT, including Microsoft Office tools. Power BI, MRP or ERP experience is an advantage.
- Experience in operating and developing lasers for operations would be advantageous.
- Line management experience is essential.
