Job description
We’ve been in Britain’s homes for over 200 years. But at British Gas, we’ve never been more excited about the future.
Right now, we’re at a pivotal moment. As well as leading our customers through a once-in-a-generation cost of living crisis, we’ve got big plans to get our homes closer to Net Zero.
That’s why we need a brilliant ECO Data and Processing Lead to help us get to where we’re going. You’ll bring bags of energy, know-how and passion to our family of door-opening brands, including British Gas and Hive. And you’ll join a team who are just as focused on delivering fantastic results as you are.
Our Energy Efficiency team is responsible for definition and execution of the government Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and the Great British Insulation Scheme which has a combined financial weight of £1.2bn. We ensure cost effective delivery to support the commercial performance of the British Gas Energy business, whilst building and maintaining fulfilment partnerships outside ECO, supporting the growth agenda of British Gas Zero. We’re looking for people with a passionate belief in the importance of the Net Zero.
In this role you will work with the ECO Approvals Manager to successfully process, report, and pay for compliant measures / projects in line with the Ofgem ECO4 & GBIS delivery guidelines and the partner delivery contract. The role would suit a commercially minded and well organised individual who wants to develop operational experience and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and optimise key technical operational processes, ensuring we successfully deliver both ECO & GBIS schemes meeting all Ofgem’s deadlines. Working with the approvals team so all measures are notified and approved as part of British Gas’s overall obligation, across all partners.
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure all processes are aligned and are continuously improved so we can work effectively and efficiently.
- Work closely with Ofgem to finalise the status of approved measures and projects, including all Closedown and Surplus activity associated with the end of an obligation period, assisting with ad-hoc investigations into partner compliance.
- Ensure that the latest ECO and GBIS requirements are understood, so you can issue accurate communications to delivery partners and to ensure good conversations when updating or challenging them on compliance.
- Interact with Ofgem and Trustmark on compliance, including dealing with notification compliance questions and exception processes.
- Work closely with the other process leads ensuring we maintain a library of evidence documents and robust audit trails for each ECO partner within our third-party software platform (ECO Hub)
- Ensure information systems, including internal spreadsheets and databases are operated to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.
- Where applicable, use excel and database queries to support all MI requests that require interrogation of our ECO data.
- Maintain a good working relationship with Trustmark ensuring BG concerns are taken into consideration during the delivery of ECO & GBIS.
Who are we looking for?
- Track record of building successful operational processes.
- Experience in multi-tasking, being able to navigate complex tasks & prioritise effectively.
- Understanding of compliance and assurance methodologies.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate effectively within a constantly changing environment.
Preferred but not essential:
- Knowledge of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and associated quality standards.
- Technical knowledge of energy saving measures and the relevant guidance (Building Regs, PAS2035, PAS2030, SAP/RdSAP, DESNZ policy & Ofgem guidance).
In this role we are happy for you to be based from home but you must be flexible to travel to our Windsor office at least once per month for team meetings.
