The Opportunity
The position of Senior Manager, Process Improvement is within our CMI business unit located in San Diego, California. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a focused effort to improve operational effectiveness and profitability for CMI, by reducing lead times and increasing reliability to schedule adherence for manufacturing and delivery of product from raw materials to finished goods.
What You’ll Work On:
Lead project management efforts for corporate strategic initiatives that drive growth (e.g., business transformation) or increase operational efficiency (e.g., process improvement) in the organization.
Develop business case, project charter and governance.
Evaluate and report on milestone updates of project implementation and monitoring to ensure successful outcomes.
Establish and monitor departmental budget.
Establish and monitor metrics for key quality and productivity goals. Utilize LEAN principles to improve performance.
Assign appropriate resources and guide team to execute projects according to priority and production schedules.
Provide guidance and recommendations on manufacturing improvement, quality, and cost reduction, including use of the LEAN Six Sigma and other statistical techniques.
Facilitate and lead effective project meetings, managing change and conflict, developing resource planning estimates, and managing timelines.
Responsible for overall project delivery.
Act as a change agent as needed for project implementation to the organization to ensure continued project delivery success.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure essential document management and communications related to project activities is completed.
Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred.
Extensive previous experience in implementation of projects in manufacturing environment
10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry, leadership position a plus
Significant experience in change management techniques and demonstrated success influencing cultural change.
Excellent project management and organization skills, Green Belt at min desired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to lead and respond to changing environment.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma is required, Certification is preferred.
Experience with multiple aspects of the product development in an FDA environment, or GMP environment.
Analytical problem solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data.
