This position is to join our innovative (PSS) programme as an employee of Eurofins. The programme places full-time analysts, technicians, scientists and technical support personnel managed by Eurofins directly at the client facility to provide long term staffing needs while maintaining the same services, expertise and cGMP compliance available at the Eurofins facility. This is a fixed term position for 1 year, working a 35 hour week, flexible between 07:00 - 19:00

Eurofins is currently recruiting for a 12 month fixed term contract, Process Development Scientist based at our PSS site in Moreton, Liverpool, UK. The scope of this role is to work within a multi-functional team to ensure successful technology transfer, pilot plant scale-up, and manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Process engineers apply subject matter expertise in production plant equipment and operations to proactively identify potential scale-up risks, inform process development activities, mitigate identified concerns, and ensure successful process scale-up. Specific work activities include but are not limited to risk assessment, supplier assessment and fit recommendation, process assessment, recommendation of actions/modifications to address process risks, capture of performance data, and troubleshooting of scale-up issues. By collaborating closely with lab development scientists, internal kilo lab facilities, and external contract manufacturing organizations, process engineers play a key role in ensuring our innovative medicines are safely and effectively delivered to fund clinical trials and transform patients’ lives. Within this role, there is potential for up to 10-15% percent domestic and/or international travel annually
- B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. degree in Chemistry or chemical engineering or closely related field or equivalent qualification. Significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of educational qualifications.
- Ideally a minimum of 7-9 years of industrial manufacturing experience in petrochemical, specialty chemical, or API process scale-up
- Manufacturing or pilot plant experience with pharmaceutical small molecules or intermediates is preferred.
- Strong fundamental technical skills (engineering, chemistry, process development, safety) and strong knowledge of plant scale unit operations (equipment capabilities, scale-up, process fit, safe operation)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work effectively across multiple assignments simultaneously, and ability to work both independently and as a part of a multifunctional team.
- Prior experience in a GMP environment is a plus
- Essential to success is the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy whilst meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills to form strong working relationships with colleagues driving collaboration.
- Ability to quickly learn new processes.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be capable of developing solutions to problems as part of a team.
- Exposure to continuous improvement.
- Willing to operate in a flexible manner and be able to switch priorities at short notice and manage multiple projects.
