Job description
Edwards are looking for a Process Design Engineer to join a growing team for our site based in Bolton. The mission of the role is to take ownership and responsibility of engineered designs within the Process Vacuum Systems & Solutions business of the Industrial Vacuum Division of the company.
The job holder has responsibility for supporting all technical requirements and deliverables for contracts assigned to the Process Vacuum Systems and Solutions Business. The scope will be to provide direct support for contracts executed directly by the Process Vacuum business and to provide support to peripheral activities including but not limited to proposals, aftersales support, testing, engineering change, research and development, training, and sales.
Main Responsibilities
- Process design responsibility for the process vacuum business, including and not limited to process design, mechanical design, instrument, and control design.
- Final design of all aspects of engineered systems and components
- Issue of design information to contracts department to enable execution of orders
- Approval of technical drawings and documents relating to the execution of orders
- Manage Safety Review Process
- Support Proposals Department
- Support aftersales activities relating to spares, replacements, site support work, training, customer meetings (external and internal) warranty claims and fault diagnosis.
- Technical responsibility for factory testing including management of customers representative at witness stage and act on the results. Support Site Acceptance Testing.
- Development and maintenance of Engineering Design Standards
- Support R&D activities and projects
Skills / Experience
- Educated to degree level in a science (physics or chemistry) discipline or commensurate experience - essential
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience - essential
- Experience of providing custom engineering solutions, preferably gained in a process / chemical engineering sector.
- Experience of designing solutions to meet customer specific specifications
- Demonstrated the ability to manage resources successfully.
- Experience working with engineering contractors is desirable.
- Knowledge of vacuum technology an advantage, but not required
- Knowledge and working experience of international design standards and codes is preferred. E.g., ASME, HEI, PED
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers on a professional level.
- Other requirements (Fluent written and spoken English language; expected travel national and international requirements up to 10% of time)
Due too the fact that a number of our clients are involved in the defence industry there is a requirement for the successful candidate to be a UK National.
