The IT/OT Process Automation Engineer will work as a member of the IT team at the Animal Health Manufacturing sites in the UK and lead the Digital Shop Floor Team. Based in Milton Keynes they will support the operation and configuration management of Operational Technologies for the manufacturing business. This role will also support the operation and modernisation of core Shopfloor systems to provide better standardisation and resiliency in our Animal Health Manufacturing Sites (Milton Keynes, Newbury and Graveley) to drive business strategies and analytics.
The position will report to the Site Digital Technology Lead for AH UK Manufacturing Sites.
- Partner with local business leadership and project teams to scope for Automation and IT aspects of capital projects, bringing knowledge of Automation technologies and the Manufacturing Systems Architecture
- Work closely with various project implementation teams that include Application Manages Services Teams, Platform Leads, Automation Engineers and Architecture and Infrastructure teams for overall solution implementation
- Understand and educate local project teams on automation standards as they relate to technology selection, system configuration, SDLC (System Development Life Cycle), validation, hardware, software environments and business processes
- Engages with stakeholders at all levels of projects, including active participation in Project Core teams and ensure that our Company SDLC is appropriately applied
- Support the site Digital Technology Lead, in providing expertise technical knowledge/advice to IPT/ COE’s on computerised/automation systems
- Performs Automation System maintenance, including system backup, disaster recovery, and obsolescence activities, and ensures automation systems remain in a validated state
- Escalate any ongoing automations issues to the Site Digital Technology Lead, in a timely manner
- Perform automation change controls to ensure that changes are raised and closed on time following the required quality standards
- Prepares and performs automation related test plans, and documentation, ensuring documentation meets required regulatory standards. Develops Automation SOPs, Job Aids and procedures
- Develops and updates Automation training packages, and conducts Automation training
- Support for deviation and operation investigation requiring code and system-level troubleshooting
- Support a continuous improvement framework within Automation and the IPT, and works with Leads to identify and implement improvements
- Lead Automation systems related small size, projects at the manufacturing site under the supervision of the site IT & Automation lead
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in software engineering, computer science or related field
- Significant related work experience with demonstrated ability to deliver IT solutions
- Relevant work experience with Manufacturing/Supply Chain IT Platform areas or other Divisional IT area
- Previous working experience analysing and defining business problems, developing business cases, and identifying appropriate process and technological solutions
- Understanding of Shopfloor systems like data historians and related tools and capabilities
- Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC)
- Experience with implementing solutions in GxP regulated environment
- Experience supporting EMS and BMS systems
- Experience supporting SCADA Systems with Siemens and Allen Bradley components
- Knowledge of Data Integrity in the pharmaceutical industry
- Excellent facilitation, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Change Controls in the pharmaceutical Industry
- SAP ECC and OSIsoft PI knowledge
- C# and SQL Experience
- The candidate must also be able to function independently and have excellent communication skills while being accountable for quality of work product and on-time delivery.
