A leading International firm is recruiting for a Managing Associate to join their Private Client team in London.
This ranked firm is an independent international professional service business with law at its heart, employing over 1450 people with close to 670 lawyers.
Based in the UK and Singapore, the firm undertakes a great deal of cross-border, multi-jurisdictional and complex work, across six core practice areas: Corporate; Dispute Resolution; Employment; Innovation; Private; and Real Estate.
The Private Client team, have a deep understanding of the dynamics and politics of families, family businesses and personal relationships. Their clients include wealthy individuals and families and range from the high profile to the very discreet. The Private Client team comprises art, reputation, property, immigration, tax and wealth planning specialists.
The team regularly advise individuals who are international, with personal wealth and business interests in numerous jurisdictions and sectors. They include professional fiduciaries and private trustees, both in the UK and all major international financial centres. The team advise on the formation, administration, taxation and governance of their structures, coordinating and working closely with local and international professional advisers, bankers and family offices.
The role will involve advising across the following areas: UK and international tax, including UK-US tax planning; trusts; asset protection structuring; and lifetime planning for high-net and ultra-high net worth individuals, families, and their trustees.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified solicitor.
- Have 5+ years PQE with experience in private wealth and specialise in personal tax, trusts and international and domestic wealth planning.
- Have experience gained at a leading personal tax practice at a reputable law firm.
- Have strong knowledge of both onshore and offshore tax and have a comprehensive understanding of the law surrounding trusts and asset structuring in the UK and internationally.
- Have good technical knowledge in tax and wealth planning with competent drafting skills.
- Be a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is desirable.
- Have experience of the UK side of US/UK tax planning is desirable.
- Be proactive and takes initiative.
- Have strong organisational and prioritising skills, in order to meet the demands of challenging and commercial internal and external clients, as well as dealing with competing priorities.
