The Opportunity
The Engineering hydrogen transition team is looking for an enthusiastic, driven and open minded colleague willing to go the extra mile and continuously drive innovative thinking.
In summary, this role involves being the engineering focal point for integrity management of asset repurposing for hydrogen transportation. You will be building valuable relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build the company’s hydrogen gas transportation integrity management internal standards and management procedures. This will be providing integrity management engineering assurance for determining fatigue life and probable failure rates of the company’s assets when repurposing for Hydrogen service.
You will be working with investment and asset strategy teams to ensure network replacement or business decisions incorporate integrity management outcomes for future proofing the network
As Integrity Engineer for network repurposing for hydrogens service you will lead in areas like:Defining credible failure mechanisms (considering hydrogens service
- Assess impact of process gas on pipeline and piping assets
- Assess change in probability of failure (with sensitivity analysis)
- Determine if change in asset probability of failure is significant
- Recommend asset investment strategy including actions to refine assumptions and models
- Maintain decision making register
You will be influencing development of industry standards as the company representative for integrity management and providing engineering support to new hydrogen asset project design, construction, and commissioning teams.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for colleagues who hold the following skills and experience:
Essential
- Experience working within a gas distribution / transmission, oil and gas, petrochemical, or nuclear environment as an Integrity Engineer
- Carried out fatigue, structural integrity, fracture control mechanics studies on assets. Able to demonstrate past work as applicable to undertake assessments for pipeline and piping assets.
- Specific knowledge of UK or international pipeline design and material standards (IGEM, GIS, API, ASME, ISO, ASTM)
- Working knowledge of static mechanical equipment design and specification codes. Including Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), PD5500, ASME VIII design codes. Can take a lead on resolving novel issues, drawing support from peers
- Chartership with a relevant institution or working towards Chartership
Desirable
- Experience in hydrogen or sour gas process or pipeline systems
- Experience working with FEED and/or EPC contractors on bespoke engineering projects delivering fatigue assessments or fracture control plans
