We are delighted to offer the post of Principal Clinical Psychologist to work with an energetic and motivated multi-disciplinary clinical team on the adult inpatient wards in Trafford. Putting Trauma Informed and compassionate care at the heart of their practice, the service has a vision for the future and is looking for a skilled, passionate and kind psychological specialist to join the adult inpatient team. Working into two adult acute wards and an intensive care unit (49 beds) and supported by two full time assistant psychologists, no two days will ever be alike as your clinical role include a range of clinical work and service development work. As the first psychologist working into Trafford adult inpatient services, you will also be working with service and operational managers to develop ways of working in line with best psychological practice. As a senior psychologist you will provide clinical leadership and supervision to the full time psychologist in the Home Based Treatment team and support the development of integrated ways of working across the Trafford acute care pathway.

To design, deliver and evaluate a psychological service to the adult inpatient services in Trafford. The main duties will include:
- Indirect working with clinical teams to develop psychological formulations
- Complex assessments
- Short term therapeutic interventions
- Teaching and training of non-psychology staff
- Supervision and line management of junior psychology staff in the acute care pathway
- Working with senior managers to develop psychologically informed models of care.
We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.
As a senior psychologist you will join a community of psychologists working in Trafford. You will be well supported by the consultant clinical leads and work as part of a team with the inpatient psychologists in across the Trust. The psychology services in GMMH have very close links with local training courses and there will be a range of CPD opportunities to support your career development.
To work with ward teams to formulate and deliver psychologically informed treatment plans for service users
To offer reflective spaces to ward staff to support delivery of care.
To complete a small number of complex assessments, integrating a range of information from different sources
To carry a small therapy caseload providing evidenced based psychological interventions to service users.
To advise and work closely with operational managers and senior clinicians on best practice in relation to the delivery of psychological interventions and psychologically informed ways of working.
To work with senior psychology colleagues and service managers to provide leadership of and strategic direction for the acute and inpatient psychology workforce in Trafford.
To line manage and clinically supervise junior qualified and unqualified psychology staff in the acute care pathway.
Lead and clinically supervise the senior clinical clinical psychologist in the Home Based Treatment team.
