Thurrock Council are seeking to recruit a Primary Child Exploitation Support Worker to join our expanding Child Exploitation team, supporting young people of primary school age who are at risk of exploitation, be that criminal or sexual, or those that are actively being exploited. The role will require you to provide early intervention to children, their parents and identified schools to prevent child criminal exploitation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who will undertake the following focused duties:
To support schools in preventing criminal exploitation and gang related issues by delivering effective interventions with children, their parents and support to school professionals. To support, advise children in schools and to work alongside the identified Primary Schools to upskill the staff and offer support to the Gangs and CE lead in YOS in delivering training to schools. To support and advise schools on how to avoid exclusions from education and to develop effective working relationships with professionals involved with individual children to deliver interventions with children at risk of child exploitation. To contribute to crime reduction and crime prevention through collaborative work with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
The successful applicant will need to work flexibly and co-operatively with Education in order to provide effective services.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative as well as be able to contribute to a multi-agency approach, so as to enable effective interventions with young people, including delivering training to a range of professionals. You will need to have experience of facilitating groups with knowledge of the issues and legislation affecting young people who are at risk of/or who have been exploited .
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level is required for this role.
