The post holder will be an experienced healthcare professional who also has excellent staff management skills. They will support the Head of Healthcare to manage and develop the Primary Care team to achieve a targeted and age/developmentally-appropriate service, delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice and local policies and procedures. This includes working closely with the wider integrated healthcare team managers to support the delivery and implementation of the trauma informed framework for integrated care (SECURE STAIRS) within the establishment.
The post holder will proactively manage and lead the Primary Care team to further develop services such as long-term condition management; nurse led minor ailment clinics, sexual health clinics and immunisation programmes. In addition, the post holder will have a key role in designing and implementing the prison wide health promotion strategy and ‘Positive Health Programme’.

1. Registered General or Children's Nurse
2. Substantial post registration experience in Primary care or an acute setting (Adult/Adolescent/Child)

The post holder will operationally manage the Primary Care provision at HMYOI Cookham Wood to ensure an equitable service to that available in the community. The post holder is responsible for Clinical Leadership in primary care and public health services and ensuring that the highest quality, evidence-based services are provided.

There will be occasions when the post holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Healthcare in his/her absence.
