Job description
The post holder will work alongside colleagues in general practice to provide acute and same-day primary care for homebound residents.
General practice colleagues will refer triaged cases to the BEMS office who will schedule visits amongst the team.
Home visiting clinicians assess the patient and document their findings in the GP notes in SystmOne. The clinician decides if any treatment is needed, and arranges this either via feeding back to the patients practice, or by referral onto other primary or secondary care service.
Benefits of this position include:
- The workload is well defined. Visits are allocated 1 hour each to allow the post-holder adequate time to travel and to complete their assessment and documentation in full.
- There is an allocated 30min break for clinicians working a full day.
- Each clinician has a defined number of available visits for the day which are allocated on a first come first served basis and once full, any additional requests for visits will be handed back to the referring practice.
- The working hours are flexible. Start and finish times are negotiable but must fall within routine General Practice hours of 0800-1800. Full time is preferred but part time would be considered for the correct candidate.
- Access to in-house group training, including NBMedical Urgent Care course.
- BEMS are committed to supporting clinicians with additional training that would enhance their work within the role, such as the Non-medical prescribing course
- You will gain a broader knowledge of primary care for homebound patients in the area and develop proficiency with system one.
- This job will extend your professional network. While visits are performed as a lone worker you will have remote access via telephone to booking and administration team, other home visiting service colleagues, and the practice staff for the patient you are assessing.
- All equipment is supplied and maintained by the employer including a phone and laptop for work purposes.
- Fuel costs are reimbursed.
See attached JD for full details.
Successful applicant will have access to NHS Pension.
