Primary Care Network Cancer Awareness Worker

37 hours per week

£26,500 per annum

Permanent subject to funding

Based in Newcastle, but working across the region for over 27 years, our patron is Professor Michael Marmot. We work in partnership with NHS and Local Authority colleagues and communities in many sectors to devise cost effective solutions that secure sustainable health impacts for many conditions that inhibit quality of life.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Primary Care Network Cancer Awareness Worker to work alongside our Health Promotion – Community Cancer Team. You will drive improvement in cancer outcomes, especially via earlier diagnosis, through outreach to Primary Care Networks (PCN) / Clusters across Newcastle/Gateshead. You will support to improve uptake of cancer screening, prevention and early diagnosis, by acting as the focal point for prevention and early diagnosis activities.

This role will support, educate and influence primary care teams, health professionals and local health systems to improve cancer services in line with the Northern Cancer Alliance workplan and the PCN cancer Direct Enhanced Service DES.

About You

You will be a proactive individual with the ability to build and develop strong collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders across organisational boundaries to influence change.
