- understanding of commercial terms of deals including financial derivatives and real options
- defining complete deal payoffs, formulating a problem, and proposing an appropriate valuation approach
- carrying out analysis and developing appropriate tools/models
- pricing and informing on the results in the context of a trading/deal management strategy
- presenting the results in a structured manner to your manager or internal customers
- Structured flexibility products
- Global gas and oil flow hedging
- Emissions and Green Fuels
- Renewable generation hedging
- EDF risk management service including facilitation of group hedging and optimisation of LNG, storages, power generation assets or liquidity products
- Commercial mindset with understanding of financial metrics, NPV and returns.
- Interest in the energy sector and understanding of energy market fundamentals and physical constraints.
- Understanding of risk, both hedge-able risk and residual risks in structured contracts, and developing a practical approach to valuation issues
- Demonstrated ability to analyse deal terms, identify underlying risk components/value drivers and formulating a complete deal payoff
- Good understanding of derivative instruments coupled with understanding of valuation and risk analysis methods
- Strong modelling skills
- Degree level education in a highly quantitative subject (for example quantitative finance, mathematics, natural sciences, engineering). Masters level qualifications or equivalent work experience are desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics applied to energy commodities.
- Knowledge of pricing algorithms, calibration methods and statistics.
- Knowledge of energy sector and its latest developments
- Excellent computer programming skills (Python, MATLAB, VB). Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Determination and commitment to delivering the top-class pricing service
- Diligence, work ownership, pragmatism and high degree of autonomy in solving problems is required.
- Notion of accountability for one’s deliverables.
- Strong influencing skills would be an advantage.
- Active interest in developing understanding of energy markets and their dynamics, alternative modelling methods, and applying this knowledge to real world transactions’ valuation
- Ability to communicate complex issues in an understandable manner to traders, sales and management
- Comfortable with working to deadlines in a fast paced environment
