Grove House surgery are currently looking to recruit a Prescription Clerk to join our team.
32 Hours per week:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
£10.50 per hour and usual experience necessary within Medical/pharmacy setting. The candidate would have prescription / medical knowledge.
MAJOR DUTIES:
1. PRESCRIPTION DUTIES Sort prescription requests received via reception, the post; pharmacies and on line. Prepare FP10s for doctors’ signature or issue FP10 for electronic signature. Process queries via Prescription telephone line and deal with any messages left on the answerphone. Ensure all prescriptions personally processed are correct; then distribute prescriptions to the appropriate nominated pharmacy or doctor. Ensure all prescriptions are put into the appropriate folders for pharmacies to collect. Deal with prescription queries either at reception or on the phone from patients, chemists or other agencies. Ensure adequate stocks of FP10s, both computer and printed pads. Order syringes, needles, post bags for the administration team, prescription stationery from the Primary Care Support (PCSE) website. Liaise with the community nursing team in respect of prescription requests. Liaise with Pharmacies and Medicines Management team on Medication stock problems and Urgent Medication Alerts. Instigate any instructions to patients from doctors re changes to medication or where appropriate after a GP has approved and changed medication from Hospital discharge letters. Process Repeat Dispensing prescriptions and blister pack/dossett box prescriptions and sending notification of change forms to the pharmacies in a timely manner. 2. OTHER DUTIES Help with the reception and administration teams as required. Assist Management in carrying out such duties from time to time which may be required by the Partners. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately. In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data. Quality: The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk. Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team’s performance. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient’s needs. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
