Full Time Southsea, England 43644 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Portsmouth High School has a vacancy for a teacher and mathematics specialist to become our subject coordinator at our beautiful and thriving Prep school. The teacher will lead the mathematics curriculum across Key Stages 1 and 2 and facilitate in each pupil the recognition, development and fulfilment of her academic potential.

The successful candidate will contribute to providing an excellent education for pupils by teaching with expertise and enthusiasm, offering support to the learning of individual students and contributing to the school’s academic and pastoral system.

The Prep school is a school where intellectual curiosity is developed and where girls enjoy learning through a range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Staff use their considerable expertise to ensure that girls become explorers using thinking skills that apply across the curriculum and beyond into sport, music and drama.

Portsmouth High School has been educating girls since 1882. The school is located in Southsea, an attractive region on the south coast with excellent transport links. The area has retained much of its original Georgian character; notably, two of the school buildings were designed by architect Thomas Ellis Owen who was instrumental in shaping development of the local area.

We are a welcoming and caring community, committed to staff well-being. The school offers a range of career opportunities both internally and more widely throughout the GDST network.

For further details please visit the school website. portsmouthhigh.co.uk/work-with-us.

The GDST is committed to diversity, inclusion and real change: a family where every individual is valued, respected and included.

The GDST is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including online searches, and checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This role will involve daily contact with children in supporting their learning and out of hours care. The Prep School Mathematics Coordinator will therefore be engaging in regulated activity and an Enhanced DBS with Barred List checks together with barred from teaching checks and childcare disqualification declaration will be required. All school staff have a responsibility to work in accordance with statutory requirements and GDST Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and procedures.
