What role will you play within our team
The current opportunity is for an experienced Power Trader to join our growing Power trading desk, as part of our Europe Gas Optimization and Trading team, based in Leatherhead, Surrey, with an expected move to Central London in 2023. If successful you will take responsibility for helping to build and shape the future Power Trading business of ExxonMobil. You will support the development of trading strategies to optimize our European power position; managing the power requirements for ExxonMobil’s pan European portfolio of sites, including refineries with onsite power production, and chemical plants.
What you will do
Support the growth of the European Power Trading activities; Support and influence the growth of our European trading team as we transition into an integrated Gas, power and carbon trading team.- Actively optimise the power supply & generation for a portfolio of ExxonMobil European sites.
- Work closely with the analytics team and the operational teams at the ExxonMobil sites to develop trading strategies to manage ExxonMobil’s European power requirements
- Analyse the markets to implement profitable trading strategies and execute trades and spreads day ahead and along the curve (out to 3 years)
- Closely collaborate with a team of eight Power originators who cover all ExxonMobil sites in NW Europe, for example on renewable power opportunities.
About you
Be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a numeric discipline e.g. Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics- Have previous experience as a GB /European power Trader
- Have experience with physical power generation assets

Be able to demonstrate:
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- The ability to collaborate effectively with internal & external customers
- A creative approach to problem solving
- The ability to work with multi-cultural global teams
- Experience in trading emissions is advantageous
- Experience of helping to support and build a developing Power trading desk would be preferred
Ideally the successful candidate would be familiar with at least one North West Europe power market, with a keen interest to learn about wider markets across Europe. In addition, European language proficiency would be beneficial.
