Power & Environmental Specialist, North East
- The role holder leads on business activities that ensure Technology and 3rd party suppliers comply with all requirements to manage health, safety and environmental risk
- Support our ISO14001 certification, audits, environmental incident response investigations as required
- Responsible for carrying out annual assessment of competency and appointment / accreditation of people for classes working on High Voltage equipment – Authorised Person In Charge ; Authorised Person HV & Competent Persons HV .
- Author and own site specific High Voltage local instructions for all HV sites in their areas.
- Carry out annual assessment of competency and appointment of people for working on or “near live” conductors.
- Authorise bespoke authority to works for near live working on a/c or d/c systems as required.
- Take part in Policy reviews and decision making processes to deliver continual improvement in processes and delivery mechanisms.
- May stop engineers from specific work activates if not deemed competent – advise training requirements etc.
- Approval and recording of all permits/authority to work – in line with policy & legal requirements.
- Verify compliance to training content and policy Job Risk Assessment and License.
- Carry out safety and quality checks on all area engineers working on power activities as laid down in policy.
- Support field non-technical managers with interviews & competence assessments for new entrants (STEM returners, new power team recruits etc.).
- Act as the Authorising Engineer (Mechanical) (AE(M)) for Pressure System licensing activities for ECP & Engine Air Start systems, and other pressurised systems as necessary.
- Electrically qualified and/or experienced.
- Extensive experience in the electrical industry including experience with the generic Electrical Infrastructures, Standby generator systems, DC Power Systems, Uninterruptable Power Systems and Ventilation and Cooling systems.
- Proven experience as an Authorised Person especially with High Voltage.
- Be trained to C&G2382 current Standards – “Current” Edition (Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations).
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (DLT142074), Management regulations, IET Wiring Regulations.
- Experience / Knowledge of working on air pressure systems, or be working towards attaining these skills.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental awareness.
