Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a multidisciplinary team of researchers studying chronic Hepatitis B infection. Funded by a Wellcome Discovery award, the successful applicant will apply cutting-edge imaging and spatial transcriptomic methods to study Hepatitis B virus replication and associated host immune responses in the liver. As part of a team working with the Davis, McKeating and Issa labs (for more information on the project please visit https://mckeatinglab.uk and https://ilandavis.com/hepatitis-b-project), the researcher will help build a more complete understanding of the pathways that define host susceptibility to Hepatitis B infection.
Applicants should possess a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject area and have relevant experience in RNA biology, infectious disease, liver biology or a related bio-medical field. You will have experience in advanced imaging and image analysis, virology or infectious disease research and liver biology or a related bio-medical field and have a proven track record of producing high-quality data leading to peer-reviewed journals. Experience in RNA biology and knowledge of computational methods and coding skills is highly desirable.
This full-time fixed term post is funded by Wellcome for up to 3 years in the first instance (with the possibility of further extension) and is based in the Davis Lab within the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford, with a portion of their time working with other team members in McKeating Lab ( https://mckeatinglab.uk)and Issa Lab ( https://www.nds.ox.ac.uk/team/fadi-issa).
This position is graded on the University’s grade 7 scale, for which the salary range is £34,308 - £42,155 per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
