Job description
There is an opportunity for a Post Room Porters at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the post room porters process approximately one thousand five hundred Items of outgoing mail per day. In addition to outgoing Items Post Room porters deliver/collect more than five hundred internal mail Items from over one hundred delivery/collection points around the trust.
The Post Room is also a drop off point where courier drivers deliver securely boxed medical records. Post Room Porters deliver these boxes to Medical Records and some medical secretary offices.
A high proportion of mail items will be of a confidential nature. As a result of this, Post Room Porters will show awareness of information governance training/ guidance.
Post Room Porters will advise the Head of Portering and Security of any concerns relating to the smooth running of the Postal Services Department.
To assist and deliver efficient and effective running of the post room and make sure all wards and departments get at least one delivery and collection a day,make sure all blood and urgent mail is delivered to the path lab when it comes in.
Solving problems that may occur within the post room department and liaise with managers about issues arising within the post room, participate in training and meetings to assist in the development and modernisation of the post room.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

In February 2022, the significant progress that has been made at QEH in just three years since 2019 was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures). We have an absolute determination to continuously improve care and services for our patients and their families.
