Job description
We are seeking a Ports & Maritime Associate Director to develop and grow our portfolio of consulting and advisory clients and projects, raise our profile in the market place, and enhance our service offering. You will help in shaping the strategic direction of our Ports & Maritime business and play a key role in the continued growth of the Jacobs business globally. In this role you will:
- Build on internal and external relationships to help develop potential pipeline of opportunities with an array of client types including Port Operators, Port Authorities, Public entities (municipal councils, DfT,) Shipping Lines and the lender investor cohort.
- Manage and develop client relationships and proactively promote the Jacobs brand across all the sectors in which Jacobs operates.
- Actively engage in the ports and maritime markets to develop pipeline of consulting projects or provide opportunities for the wider Jacobs businesses.
- Serve as Project Director/Manager for of high-quality profitable client work across portfolio of pre-dominantly ports and maritime commissions in both the public and private sector.
- Work closely with Jacobs ports & maritime technical experts, and or other sectors within Jacobs, to deliver projects co-creatively.
- Transfer knowledge and skills throughout the Company to promote staff development.
- Surface the innovative solutions and expert knowledge across Jacobs different market sectors which may provide market leading benefits and value to the Ports & Maritime clients.
- Help develop and influence how Ports and Maritime team operate as “one team” across our Global and regional clients.
- Broad experience of the Ports & Maritime sector, including areas such as business/commercial planning, forecasting, regulation, strategy development, management organisation, and capacity appraisal.
- A proven track record of providing strategic advice (externally or internally), including a deep understanding of commercial and/or technical due diligence activities.
- A depth of understanding of key market and industry trends and communicate these clearly and effectively both internally and externally.
- Experience of successfully managing and developing client relationships within the infrastructure sector, including port operators, maritime authorities, port owners and investors.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness, with specific appreciation of risks within the Ports & Maritime sector.
- Experience of business development, work winning and proposal writing.
- Industry experience within one or more of the other sectors in which we operate (Ports, Intermodal Rail or related infrastructure businesses), or experience within a financial institution (e.g. providers of equity / debt to projects requiring project finance) while desirable, is not essential.
- Experience with hinterland development and supply chain management would be advantageous.
