Location – Flexible
Contract Type – Permanent
Working Hours – Full Time
Closing Date – 2 June 2023
Main Purpose of the Role
As a Portfolio Reliability & Process engineer you will continuously work on the delivery of “best in class” power plant performance across all Gas Cluster Generation Assets in our pan-European business, over 13,000 MWs of generating capacity. You will deliver reliability engineering and condition monitoring expertise for our power plants, using advanced predictive analytics and root cause analysis. Your role varies from direct support to the gas-fired assets as well as coordinating and/or delivery of portfolio overarching-analyses, reports and improvement activities. As well as having a highly technical insight into powerplant processes, including machine reliability and thermodynamics, success in this role will benefit from knowledge of the energy market. You should have skills in detailed performance analysis and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement in the use of our data, and proactive decision making.
You will employ best practice to increase plant reliability and optimize maintenance interventions, using key analytical tools such as SmartSignal and SPC (statistical process control) and our in-house systems such as Maintenance & Asset Reliability Assistant (Mara). You will be expected to develop, maintain and use these systems to improve asset performance, such as through the creation of new equipment failure modes. Use of our expert systems and the underlying plant data means you can derive and represent information in a transparent and meaningful way for the business, so maximising the value of our data.
You will become part of the Information & Analytics team within Gas Asset Management, reporting to the team manager. Within the team we cultivate a culture of continuous improvement to ensure delivery of our business aims and value-adding initiatives. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with the colleagues within Asset Management (AM), local Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and the Engineering & Outage teams (E&O) and across the wider RWE business.

- Support engineers at the assets or Engineering & Outage teams to solve urgent as well as longer term reliability and process related issues.
- Using our Maintenance & Asset Reliability Assistant system (Mara) for identification of new issues and updating existing plant reliability issues.
- Using Smartsignal/SPC to identify potential issues and assist stations to implement corrective actions.
- Conduct analytical root cause analysis and identify new failure modes.
- Develop and maintain models of Failure Modes in SEEQ (analytical platform using plant data), proficient in writing health score logic and its integration with Mara.
- Analyse failure distributions, failure likelihood and potential consequences, as well as risk, and managing a reliability database through the Mara Event Journal.
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical University education or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in power or process plant environment.
- Good knowledge in all aspects of power or process plant operation and supporting processes.
- Demonstrable ability to understand and establish best practices in increasing machine reliability, leveraging predictive analytics, mean time between failure analysis, root cause analysis and FMEA analysis.
- Experience in proactively recommending decisions based on in-depth analysis.
- Positive engagement across multiple stakeholders and a demonstrable ability to explain and solve complex problems on power plant.
- Able to isolate root causes and implement corrective actions to improve long term performance and practice.
- Engages with problems in a disciplined and rigorous manner and evaluates possible solutions systematically and rationally
- Specific software experience in the following areas desired: Smartsignal, SPC, Vibration Analysis, SEEQ
