About the role

Working as part of the Facilities Team for West Northamptonshire Council, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a porter/cleaner. Based in the historic Guildhall.

What will you be doing?

Duties are - general cleaning – including public areas, toilets, meeting rooms and also external areas, courtyard and steps. Set up for events and meetings – moving of furniture, setting up AV equipment, preparing refreshments (teas & coffee’s). Undertake confidential waste, rubbish and recycling collections in the office spaces.

The successful candidate will undertake specific training on duties and procedures relevant to all areas of the Council, Fire Warden duties, Manual handling and COSHH.

About you

Essential knowledge - COSHH, Manual Handling, H&S and Customer Service skills.

The skills essential for this role are previous cleaning and portering experience in a similar role and an ability to work flexibly, early mornings and some evenings. The post holder will be required to work one Saturday in 5 on a rota basis.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
