Job Title: Porter

Location: Salford Royal Hospital, Stott Lane, M6 8HD

Trust Location: Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

Payrate: £10.37 per hour plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays

Shifts: Monday–Sunday (37.5 hrs per week)

Hours: (6:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00, 10:00-18:00, 11.30-19.30) needs to be flexible

About the Trust

Salford Royal is based at Stott Lane, and it is easily accessible via both car and public transport. There is onsite parking (fees will apply). It has four on site cafes and two restaurants where staff are eligible for a discount. The hospital also has on site shops.

This is a Temporary Role

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • To provide a portering and messenger service, including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments including A&E admissions to wards and transfers between A&E, X-ray and wards.
  • To collect and deliver a range of goods including, drugs, bloods, furniture, feed bottles, case notes, specimens, x-rays and medical gas cylinders.
  • To be responsible for the regular and sufficient removal of general, recycling and clinical waste.
  • To ensure all waste streams are segregated, handled, and disposed of in line with the site requirements.
  • To comply with the health and safety procedures when moving waste around the site.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

  • Happy to be in a fast-paced physical role
  • Eye for detail
  • A good understanding of spoken and written English.
  • Excellent communication skills
