We manufacture our own polymers onsite in Darwen, Lancashire which is a vital part of the Supply Chain for our UK Paint production.
Leading a team of 14 and reporting into the UK Head of Production, we are looking for a Plant Manager to help drive the manufacturing strategy forward.
The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility of H&S, Quality Control, Costs, Operational Performance and Continuous Improvement. It is a "hands on" role suited to experienced managers who can operate at both strategic and ground level.
Use your expertise in Process/Chemical Engineering to provide fresh and innovative ways!
Your background and degree in chemical engineering will allow you to make sound operational decisions within the plant, driving efficiencies, controlling costs and establishing best in class practices.
You'll have a "hands on" leadership style and have a collaborative working approach, partnering with R&D to look at improvements so that Crown Paints remains a high focus in a dynamic market.
Being an integral part of the Operations Management team within the Hempel Technology & Operations function, you'll be very much part of the future direction of the polymer plant and wider Deco manufacturing strategy.
Quality – Evaluate, develop and implement operational quality and plant hygiene standards.- Leadership – Provide clear direction and lead the continued development of the operational teams whilst encouraging open leadership and employee participation.
- Cost – Control of a multi-million pound budget. Improving efficiency of equipment and processes while reducing outsourcing of the produced polymer grades.
- Operational Performance – continuously challenging current practices to establish Best in Class manufacturing. Reviewing and analysing KPI’s results to drive improvements.
- Delivery and Scheduling – responsible for maintaining a day by day polymer schedule to best fit our main manufacturing site in Hull, East Yorkshire and external customer demands for finished product, including raw material stock management and finished goods transport planning.
Using your degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Chemical Engineering, you'll be the subject matter expert in the Polymer facility. Using your experience within polymerisation or chemical processing will also allow you to be hands on within the operation, covering shifts where needed and trouble shooting on the plant floor.
A solid understanding of H&S within a manufacturing environment along with qualifications in this field (NEBOSH) is vital for keeping our people safe. After all, safety is a small investment for a rich future.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to encourage and empower a team will be the key to the success and succession of the plant.
