Job summary
Whilst DCMS is advertising this vacancy, the successful candidate(s) may ultimately be appointed to the newly created Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT)
The Telecoms Consumer Team, within Wireless Infrastructure, Spectrum and Consumer (WISC) Deputy Directorate, works to support households across the UK to access broadband and mobile services. The Consumer Team leads on a range of policies including affordability, customer protection and take-up of gigabit broadband and 5G services.
We work closely with an array of stakeholders - including industry, consumer groups, charities as well as other government departments - to develop policies to empower users of telecoms services, address the digital divide and deliver the economic and social benefits from the investment the Government and telecoms sector are making in the nation’s digital infrastructure.
Job description
The successful candidate will need to be able to work independently, think creatively and have good written and verbal communications skills. The role will also require someone who is organised, able to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.

Essential requirements:
- Communication skills: The post holder must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to adjust messaging to a wide range of audiences.
- Problem solving: The post holder must be willing to think creatively about how to approach problems, and be comfortable with working with uncertainty.
- Organisational skills: The post holder must also be able to prioritise multiple competing priorities.
Desirable Skills:
- The role will require collaboration with a wide range of actors. Therefore, experience in stakeholder
- Experience in policy making is desirable.
- Project management skills are desirable including monitoring the progress of other teams and managing risks.

Interviews
In most cases interviews will take place remotely via Google Meet video call. However please refer to the Candidate Information Pack to confirm the interview approach.
Location
This role can be based in London, Manchester, Darlington or Belfast.The hub locations are displayed on the job advert. Not all hub locations have confirmed office space yet - successful applicants will be expected to work remotely until this becomes available.
