About the Role

We are looking to recruit a Policy Advice and Support Officer to help ensure the smooth running of the Medical Ethics Committee, Board of Science, Patient Liaison Group and BMA elections.

You will join the BMA’s Professional Policy and Activities team within our Communications and Policy function. In this role, you will support BMA colleagues, committees and members to manage debates on issues affecting health, healthcare and the medical workforce. You will also play a key role in ensuring that our committees work effectively and dynamically.

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months.

In your role, you will:

  • Arrange meetings and draft agendas, papers and minutes
  • Contribute to the development of guidance and other materials to support members
  • Undertake research and evaluation
  • Draft newsletters, web text, consultation responses and reports on policy issues relevant to your committees
  • Organise conferences, webinars and events.

To be successful as in this role you'll have:

  • Previous experience of providing project/ committee support
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships with committee members and BMA colleagues
  • Be able to grasp new policy concepts quickly and undertake research and analysis of policy issues.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good analytical skills with an eye for detail
  • The ability to identify areas for improvement and respond effectively to new challenges.
