What is the job?
Policing is a challenging, yet rewarding career, allowing us to serve the public 24/7, 365 days a year. It offers opportunity for progression and specialisation, plus unrivalled camaraderie and team spirit. It’s about protecting the vulnerable when they need you most. It’s working in partnership to tackle serious and organised crime and it’s making critical decisions that will change lives forever.
As a TVP Police Officer you will:
- engage on a daily basis with the community
- attend 999 and 101 calls
- prepare reports and take statements from members of the public
- investigate crimes and offences
- conduct searches
- make arrests and attend incidents.
We are looking for resilient individuals whose first instinct is to help and support others; the problem solvers and solution-finders, those calm under pressure, who ask questions and are curious, but also approachable with a natural ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. It’s a position of responsibility, of trust, and of purpose.
Above all, it’s working as part of a family, a policing family. A team that pulls together as one, rising to the challenge every single day.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

- Residency: been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years prior to applying.
- Hold a full manual driving licence before your first day of training.
- Pass the police vetting checks. Not have served any time in prison or youth detention (a criminal conviction may lead to your application being rejected but are considered on a case-by-case basis).
- Be able to pass the medical assessment including eyesight standards, BMI, fitness test, DNA, fingerprints and substance misuse testing.
- Not have any tattoos which could cause offence.
- Live within 30 crow miles of two of our main stations before your start date.
We strive to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse communities that we serve. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and are especially keen to increase the number of women in policing, and to increase applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and also from the LGBT+ community.
