Job description
We welcome applications from Police Constables for the role of Intelligence Officer, to work within the Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) Intelligence Team.
The Intelligence Management Units are responsible for receiving, assessing and managing threat, harm and risk, taking appropriate action to develop, reduce and manage the risk presented. The IMU conduct assessments of the intelligence in order to reach a decision as to how and where the intelligence is progressed. The FIMU assess all new intelligence entering the CT Policing network from a variety of sources ensuring any identified risk is managed on behalf of the Chief Constable. This is an exciting opportunity to develop intelligence within the extreme right wing terrorism sphere, whilst supporting CT Investigations.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National andhave resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all requirements of the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM) by receiving, assessing and managing information and intelligence in support of daily business or specific operations.
- Act as a conduit for the two-way flow of overt, sensitive and secret information and as an authority on level two issues, provide assistance where needed to local forces.
- Identify and provide relevant, timely information (e.g. intelligence and evidential reports) to contribute to the development of strategic and tactical intelligence assessments, target and problem profiles and other National Intelligence Model products.
- Monitor and maintain ongoing intelligence enquiries and operations ensuring a measure of quality control is applied to the product and to ensure all relevant information is available to a comprehensive standard so that the CTU can be as effective as possible.
- Provide intelligence support to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO).
- Prioritise intelligence and evidence in accordance with the threat and risk posed by individuals and terrorist networks.
- Pursue interests internally and externally through identifying opportunities for improving service to law enforcement partners.
- Officers will be provided the opportunity to rotate around thematic desks and to develop specialist knowledge and experience.
Required knowledge/skills
Essential
- Proven operational/intelligence experience involving complex crime investigations.
- Proven ability to gather information / intelligence to inform decision making.
- Previous experience in assessing and managing threat, risk and harm.
- Proven ability to problem solve in conjunction with partners.

- Willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) checks.
- Able to perform on call arrangements for immediate response as required.
- Able to travel/work across SE region and outside the region if required.
