Job description
We are looking for a Facilities Plumber to work on a full time, permanent basis at a hospital in Bishop Auckland. You will be working predominantly Monday to Friday - An On Call Rota is in place and is a great opportunity to increase your earnings.
You will work as part of the team undertaking planned and routine maintenance, conducting repair works and attending breakdowns of all mechanical and plumbing systems/plant, throughout the hospital.
You will often liaise with management, engineering, medical and nursing staff, contractors, and other client staff pursuant with your duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision of the Estates Supervisor undertake all aspects of mechanical/plumbing maintenance
- Undertake repairs and installation of mechanical services adhering to safety practices at all times
- Respond to and complete reactive repairs within the agreed timescales
- Report directly to the Estates Supervisor for the issue and feedback of work on a daily basis
- Working largely under their own supervision, able to diagnose faults and carry out installations, recommending spares and materials
- Actively participate and be proactive in efforts to reduce plant and machinery downtime and reduce maintenance spending
- Record all details of work carried out for statistical and reporting purposes in a manner determined by the Estates Manager
- Pick up and record jobs, interfacing directly with the Helpdesk and Estates Administrators
Professional and personal competencies/qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years post apprenticeship experience
- Minimum C & G apprenticeship qualification in a core trade
- Good standard of education and manual dexterity
- Experience within Healthcare and Estate management, or an Engineering environment
- Experience desirable in HVAC although training can be provided
Due to Contract/ On Call Requirements, you must live within 25mins drive of Bishop Auckland Hospital to be considered for this role.
