Salary: £16 - £18 p.h. depending on experience, skills and qualifications
Hours: Sessional, as and when required, usually 12 – 18 hours per week, with a possibility of regular work and the potential to become full-time employment
Location: Greater London (various locations depending on client location)

About London Play Design
London Play Design (LPD) is a children’s not-for-profit organisation which supports play projects in London. We build new playgrounds and repair play equipment for community organisations. We also run corporate volunteer team days at London’s adventure playgrounds where staff from large firms carry out free repairs.
About the job
The Playground operation assistant will work with the Corporate Volunteer Day (CVD) manager to prepare and run all aspects of LPD’s corporate volunteer days. Successful candidates may be offered additional hours working with LPD’s construction team as assistant carpenters.
Job Description
All aspects of the job will be delivered in close co-operation with the CVD manager, as follows:
Help assess play equipment at London’s staffed adventure playgrounds for repairs and maintenance needed, working closely with playground staff. Repair needs will usually be based on an annual play safety report.
Help compile a repair plan spanning one or several volunteer days
Help prepare tools, materials, equipment and PPE needed for teams of corporate volunteers (from 10 – 50 people) to carry out repairs and maintenance, including online/shop orders and tool transfers (by van)
Help complete risk assessments, method statements and all other procedures needed volunteer days
Help deliver the volunteer days, including inducting and helping volunteers carry out the tasks in the repair plan
Help protect all clients, staff and volunteers from injury by implementing health & safety, safeguarding and other related policies and procedures
Help assess progress made during the volunteer day and report results to LPD management and our social media team
Help carry out post-volunteer day tasks, including return of tools to base, workshop tidying and maintenance and carrying out tools / materials audits
All other aspects that can reasonably be expected in connection with the post

Person specification
Essential
· Friendly, personable, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, team worker
· Basic skills in carpentry, joinery or construction
· Experience in using power tools
· Articulate and confident in dealing with colleagues, clients, teams of volunteers and members of the public
· Ability to perform multiple complex tasks before, during and after a volunteer day
Optional/desirable
· Experience and/or qualifications in carpentry, joinery or construction
· Experience and/or qualifications in playwork
· Holder of a CSCS card or other health and safety qualification
· Full, clean driving licence and ability to drive a van
· Experience in photography
· Knowledge of play safety regulations
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software
