What is the role?
To lead and align the planning, delivery and ongoing evaluation of the interdisciplinary Player Development Programme for the Under 15-16s including, but not limited to, age specific curriculum delivery, individual development plans and player transition.
What will you be doing?
  • Lead the coaching delivery of the Under 15s or 16s programme, in line with the Academy methodology and club-wide game model.
  • Manage the interdisciplinary individual development plan process for Under 15-16 age groups, in line with club-wide Player Profiles.
  • Manage the progression and pathway of players in and out of the Under 15-16 age groups.
  • Support the Academy Recruitment department to identify with player auditing and gap analysis.
  • Manage the review and interdisciplinary meeting process for players in the Under 15-16 age groups.
  • Lead an effective review and feedback programme with players, coaches and families to monitor and support player progress and development.
  • Play a key role in the delivery and evaluation of the Academy methodology, play book and curriculum content, as directed by the Academy Technical Board.
  • Deliver a quality and diverse games programme that provides appropriate challenge and opportunity for the Under 15-16s players, in collaboration with the Academy Operations department.
  • Regularly attend Academy games at Under 14s, Under 18s and Under 21s, as well as Under 15-16s.
  • Lead on the care and support of the well-being of Under 15-16 players in collaboration with the Player Care department.
  • Assist cross departmental projects which aim to improve the way data and video is used as a feedback mechanism with the staff and players.
  • Ensure that all PMA tasks are completed by the staff working with the Under 15-16 age groups.
  • Support the Head of Coaching with our in-house staff, player and parent education initiatives.
  • Sharing of relevant video, data and other resources with staff, players, parents using various Southampton FC Academy platforms.
Is this you?
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
  • UEFA A Licence
  • FA Advanced Youth Award
  • Undergraduate degree in sports coaching, sports science, performance analysis, or related subject
  • Minimum five years coaching experience within Academy or International Youth coaching environment at relevant age groups.
  • Minimum three years performance analysis experience within an Academy setting at relevant age groups.
  • Depth and quality of experience within individual player development in both coaching and analysis settings
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong level of technical and tactical football knowledge and game understanding.
  • Experience in leading and developing a phase and/or team of staff in Academy environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record in developing elite talent.
