An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Play Specialist to join our team. The job would suit someone with solid experience working in the role. The job is varied and interesting and there will be lots of opportunity for you to use existing skills, whilst continuing to learn and experience different things. If you have great communication skills and a solid foundation of experience with children and young people and a passion for play, we would love to hear from you.
We are a 16 bedded Paediatric Ward providing care for children from 0-18 years with a variety of medical, surgical and complex needs. Attached to the main ward is a Day Assessment Unit providing day case care, review of open access patients, and acute care for patients referred by their GP or the Emergency Department. We are also the specialist regional unit for burns and plastics.
The successful candidate will work closely with children/young people and their families and strive to make the hospital journey as pleasant as possible. The post holder must be able to provide Play Service input and support, specialised and therapeutic, normalising/developmental and sensory play and deliver preparation and distraction for our children and young people.
