PLANNING NQ LAWYERS – REGIONAL (BIRMINGHAM, LEEDS OR MANCHESTER)
Brief
We are currently looking to recruit a newly qualified planning lawyers to join our market leading Planning & Environment team. We are ideally looking to recruit candidates who have experience with a focus on the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, compulsory acquisition/purchase and compensation matters, EIA/HRA, inquiries and judicial review.
What our Planning & Environment team is known for:
We are the largest dedicated planning team in the UK with specialists covering a wide range of major projects across the Energy, Infrastructure and Real Estate sectors. Within our team, we have lawyers who predominantly work in the Real Estate sector and lawyers who predominantly work in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. We are looking for candidates who have the experience of, and would like to work predominantly in, the Real Estate sector.
Our Planning & Environment team advises on market leading projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Our work includes major urban regeneration schemes, tall buildings, estate regeneration, residential, commercial and sport developments, garden settlements and over-station developments. Key clients include:
- Delancey
- Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
- Berkeley Homes
- Greater London Authority
- Land Securities
- Lendlease
- Ministry of Defence
- London Legacy Development Corporation
Work highlights include:
- Advising Elephant & Castle Properties on all planning aspects of the redevelopment of Elephant & Castle shopping centre and London College of Communication (University of the Arts London) in the London Borough of Southwark
- Advising the Ministry of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on its application for planning permission for the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre, proposed to be developed in Victoria Gardens adjacent to the Palace of Westminster
- Advising Havering and Wates Regeneration LLP on a £1bn regeneration programme to regenerate 12 estates across the London Borough of Havering
- Advising Coventry City Council on the planning strategy and compulsory purchase order for the mixed use regeneration of the City Centre South area of Coventry.
- Advising Sunderland City and South Tyneside Councils on the development of a new gigafactory to make batteries for electric vehicles, next to Nissan’s UK car factory
- Advising the Science Museum Group on the extension of the National Railway Museum in York
- Advising South Gloucestershire Council on the development of Bristol Arena and the surrounding 7,000 home Cribbs Patchway New Neighbourhood.
The Candidate Required
The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience with a large regional or national practice and understand the levels of service delivery required. They will have a strong academic background and an outgoing personality. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach.
