We are looking for a Planner to join our Joint Venture team based on Hinkley Point C in Somerset. The JV that VSL are part of are involved in the building of the housing of the nuclear reactors.

Essential:
- Significant experience of construction projects across a broad range of sectors.
- Hands-on planning mindset with determination and passion for adding value to the project objectives
- Ability to manage complex project programmes with challenging phasing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction, commissioning.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others.
- Use of specialist planning software
- Detailed knowledge of the key features of NEC contract entered in UK.
Job Purpose and Scope:
You will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and operating a planning system in accordance with the planning procedures, providing a consistently high level of service.
Accountabilities and key tasks:
- Working as part of project team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress
- Capture of output rates and lost time to ensure company database remains current and competitive
- Liaison with broader planning community
- Ensuring compliance with all current Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements
- Line Management of less senior planners
General Duties:
- To be aware of and promote the strategic aims and goals of the Company when carrying out your day to day duties and responsibilities.
- To maintain regular contact with Senior Management
Specific Duties:
- Agree with Project Team the level of planning service and anticipated time allocation
- Hands-on planning, in conjunction with the project team, optimum working programme to meet project objectives covering design, procurement, enabling, construction, commissioning, handover, client key dates
- Contributing to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions
- Chair and minute programme, logistic and delivery workshops
- Communicating within the project team to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme
- Meeting/ communicating with supply chain specialists to confirm suitable method and programme for scope given project specific constraints
- Monitoring and reporting progress against programmes, suggesting mitigation actions
- Understand the project forms of contract (with specific amendments) and ensure team are aware of actions necessary. 1) demonstrate entitlement 2) protect business from commercial harm
- Summarise projects status upstream to senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns
- Line management of junior planners setting them to work, monitoring the timeliness and quality of their work, providing frequent feedback and mentoring support, and undertaking appraisals as necessary
- Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload to Line Manager
- Implement BIM strategy as required
