Structural Analyst

Your Role
SAS’ Engineering team is critical to executing our missions. As a Structural Analyst, you will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable space flight. Your analysis and recommendations will shape the products that will be landing on the moon!
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Performing structural analysis on pressurized components for Lunar Transportation vehicles.
- Provide expert guidance on structural design and quantify performance over a variety of environments.
- Provide structural design analysis and design feedback that will be used to verify requirements and optimize performance.
- Covering a variety of structural analysis of fluid systems hardware and secondary structure
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant experience with the structural analysis of pressurized components and systems, including tubing/piping, pressure vessels, and valves
- Experience in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred) and the validation of structural analysis models
- Familiar with 3D CAD tools (Creo preferred)
- Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowable development
- Experience analyzing components in high-vibration environments
- Experience with classical hand calculations for stress analysis based on common aerospace reference materials (Shigley, Bruhn, Roark, etc.)
- Proficient with one or more of the following analysis codes: Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Optistruct
- Design experience to provide feedback for design iteration and optimization
- Experience with cryogenic and elevated temperature systems and the applicable analysis approaches
- Experience with fatigue analysis and linear-elastic fracture mechanics (hand calculations, NASGRO, etc.)
- Working knowledge of metallic and composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs)
- Demonstrated process automation experience using scripting (VBA, MATLAB, Python, Fortran, etc.)How You Will Be Rewarded
The annual salary for this role is $72,000 to $187,000. Compensation depends on the candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills.
