Pipefitter/Welder

GSK are recruiting for a Pipefitter/Welder to join them at the site in Montrose on a full-time and permanent basis.

You will gain experience working in a pharmaceutical plant and to part of an experienced team Welders. You will be responsible for maintaining the pipework across the site and will gain full welding coding training to suit the different pipework on site.

Job Purpose

To maintain and install pipework and associated in-line fittings. This will provide reliable plant and equipment to both meet the manufacturing plan and satisfy the external regulators. The maintenance includes scheduled routine, corrective and breakdown Maintenance as well as plant modifications and plant reconfiguration.

In this role you will…

  • Will work as part of a team to carry out pipefitting work in various metals and plastics.
  • To fabricate, weld, test, install, maintain and modify all types and sizes of domestic, engineering services and chemical processing pipework.
  • To install Lokring connectors to various pipe MoC.
  • The individual will be based at Montrose, will work in all factory areas.
  • The work is of a manual, physical nature. Knowledge of manual handling and mechanical handling techniques and is able to work at heights from ladders, access platforms and occasionally in confined spaces.
  • Competent to use any type of access equipment.
  • Is responsible for self and others on Health, Safety & Environmental issues.
  • Will carry out duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Will assist other people within the team to resolve issues and problems as they arise.
  • Assist with the development of apprentices by sharing knowledge, experience and demonstrating the skills required.
  • Proactive in problem solving and understanding customer requirements and issues.
  • Is able to work with minimum supervision, demonstrate initiative and be capable of making decisions affecting their own area of work.
  • Basic scheduling of workload, prioritising and organising in conjunction with the TM’s/TSE’s and utilising the maintenance management system CMMS.
  • Flexibility to embrace any future advancement in tools, techniques and working practices associated with the role after appropriate training.
  • Is capable of communicating on a day to day basis with team members, process operators, local managers and others as appropriate
  • Is able to deliver and receive detailed instructions both written and oral.
  • Formal engineering background is essential in one of the key engineering disciplines
  • Competent to use any lifting equipment aligned to their role.
  • Document and record maintenance information to meet regulatory requirements and request spares and materials to support the business.
  • Record welding inspection certificates to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Managers set high standards, communication open, confront risk and proactively involve their people to improve our safety culture
  • Understand and follow the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Take action to rectify or report deviations from GMP or the QMS.
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Site and Company Procedures.
