Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor ST3 equivalent in Gynaecology based at St. Richards Hospital from October 2023 for a period of 12 months.

Full-time including a fixed on-call pattern covering labour ward and emergency gynaecology.

Suitable for those at ST3 level or above ie Junior or Senior Middle grade as well as for those currently in Training seeking an OOP who has some experience in gynaecological ultrasonography. Role to commence from October 2023.

Role includes opportunity for a funded postgraduate diploma PGCert (medical ultrasound)

Objectives of the post:

• To develop competencies in ultrasound scanning and build a significant log book of experience
• Build up to independent clinical scanning / clinic lists (indirect supervision) in the context of Early Pregnancy, emergency gynaecology and the assessment of endometrial abnormalities and adnexal masses
• PGCert in medical ultrasound
• Regular operating time. Improve and refine skills in operative gynaecology, particularly the operative management of cases likely to be encountered in the scan clinics.
• Non-clinical time allowed to develop a basic ultrasound scanning (TA & TV) course which comprises basic theory / machine familiarity, alongside simulated and real patient scanning to develop the ultrasound competencies of more junior trainees
• Participation in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement

Candidates will need skills in communication, service delivery and improvement, people management and development.

On Call Commitment: A fixed week night covering acute obstetrics and gynaecology at registrar level as well as a 1:8 weekend on call.

The candidates must have experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and ideally have decided on Obstetrics and Gynaecology as your preferred career. You will be committed to working as a team member providing care to our patient population. You will have an active
interest in developing your personal, clinical, and special interest skills. You will be capable of managing projects both independently and under supervision. Regular supervision meetings with an experienced training Consultant will help you meet your personal objectives during your post and also help you shape your future career.
