Physical Protection Solution Lead
UK based – can be flexible/ remote
£60,000-£65,000 plus package

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Physical Protection Solution Lead.
This role provides the unique opportunity, from a security perspective, to influence the design of this SMR. Taking the project from concept to the final construction, with involvement in the whole process. After the design phase is complete the next step is to build an SMR and you will be working on the logistics of the factory sites, getting everything up and running, seeing things through from concept to completion.
You will be working as a critical team member of the security group directly supporting both the architect and engineering design functions to deliver a physically secure solution to future licensees of new RR-SMR Power Stations.
In addition, a crucial outcome of this work will see you working within the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) Security team and working closely with all components of the safety, safeguards, and environmental functions within the GDA team; specifically, this post will augment the capability of the Security Case Lead alongside the Cyber Protection solution delivery Lead producing the Claims, Arguments, and Evidence that will form part of the Generic Security Report (GSR) component of the GDA submission to the ONR.

We’re looking for experience and skill in 5 key areas:-
Physical Security Subject Matter Expert
Experience in the delivery of physical security solutions in a nuclear environment, with demonstratable capability of the implementation of Physical Security Solution programmes in a heavily regulated environment
Knowledge of Physical Security Codes & Standards to give advice, guidance, & recommend solutions within a secure, controlled environment.
Demonstratable understanding of the principles behind secure-by-design and the graded approach.
Exceptional knowledge of the practice and principles of requirements identification, analysis, and synthesis, to create substantiation of security claims, arguments, and evidence.
Ideally with experience in the delivery of the physical security aspects of the Generic Security Report (GSR) following principles of Secure-by-Design.
Demonstratable understanding of threat analysis and creation of adversarial pathways.
Experience in interpreting threat intelligence, analysing vulnerabilities. Application of the threat – what does it mean to us? Security vulnerability association / Protection of vital assets. Risk assessment and risk mitigation and prevention – application of expertise to put appropriate measure in place.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills.
Engage with the regulator, actively collaborate with the architect and engineering communities across RR-SMR to ensure secure-by-design is an active component of the design process. Manage a physical security specialist.
Regulatory Requirements
Experienced engaging directly with UK Government regulators and leading the conversation Understands ONR security Regulatory requirements & Nuclear Industry Security Regulation (NISR) 2003. Ideally with experience and understanding of the application of the ONR SyAPs to support nuclear security solution design.
Pay and Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £60,000 - £65,000, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes. Our Application Process
Due to the safety regulations within the nuclear industry, applicants will be required to participate in additional screening. These are:
- Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
- Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
